July 2005
August 4, 2005
Dear Family and Friends,
Some of you are wondering about the status of the billboard advertising my site: MormonInfo.org. Unfortunately I'm no longer working with UPFC, and since UPFC was making the business arrangements for the billboard, MormonInfo.org is not being advertised on a billboard.
The director, Russ East, told me the beginning of July that UPFC just doesn't want to have a confrontational evangelist on board after all, so they'd give me until October to remain with them. I respected their decision, and was grateful for the time to get things together for my departure. But then on the 20th of last month I got an e-mail stating that they were letting me go at the end of last month. They let me go so quickly because I had listed a link for a particular site that recently put some garbage on it. I had no idea about it, and when I looked at the site a year or so ago there was nothing really offensive about it. UPFC was claiming that I was condoning this stuff! On the 16th they demanded I take down all the objectionable links within 48 hours. They also told me that I'd no longer be on the billboard they are running with 4 other sites (3 of which have links to my site): www.answers4lds.com (this is scheduled to run in Ogden, UT for the month of August). They also took my site off their links page, and demanded that I take off any links to their site! They are scared to death that LDS might find something objectionable on my site, so they cut me on short notice! Just another instance of Christians bending over backwards to pacify LDS while Christian brothers and sisters get the short end of the stick.
I'm so sick of this stuff, and God's probably letting me go through this to force me to start my own ministry. I plan on doing this, but first I'm taking a sabbatical to concentrate on making a good dent in my doctoral program.
On another note, I "crashed" the LDS prophet and president's 95th birthday party. I "crashed" it in the sense that I stood outside the Conference Center with my sign and preached while it was going on and afterwards. I had a good time talking for quite a while with one LDS guy, but many were really upset at me doing this at a birthday party. They found it to be really rude and disrespectful. But so what? They think it's rude and disrespectful whenever I'm out there. The point is that I'm taking advantage of a large gathering of LDS, who will be forced to hear and see the truth. Their house is burning, and someone has to tell them before it's too late. And if they reject it, God will use it, among other things, to justly condemn them to the hell they desire.
Finally, I have another URL to reach MormonInfo.org: www.QuestionMormonism.com. This was primarily for advertising on a Utah billboard, which I'd still like to do someday. But originally I was encouraged to get a more pointed URL, so that other Christians outside of Utah would not feel like they're giving others the impression that they are Mormon if they were to advertise "MormonInfo.org".
Thank you for every prayer said on my behalf, and for every financial contribution made on my behalf. If you'd like to continue supporting this ministry or me as I take my sabbatical, you may contribute through my PayPal link on my "Make a Donation" page, or you may send me a check directly; just e-mail me.
Love,
R.M.S.

****MAILBAG****
Good to see you at the conference corner preaching for the Lord at the birthday of the CEO. Whoever supports your ministry definitely gets a hundred cents on the dollar!
How is it that Jesus being a single guy was able to attain godhood? I was asked this the other day, and I can't seem to recall ever having this question. At this time I can hardly think anyway, but I can't see any special reason he was allowed to become a god without having been married.
[I responded:] He was an exception to the rule to die for our sins. Similar to the Holy Ghost becoming a God without a tangible body.
...You are greatly admired and envied. To be able to be in a place where you have the opportunity to witness daily is so fortunate. I can't imagine what it is like to stand in front of the temple every day and on your own. I know that I couldn't do what you do, but if you weren't there, how would these people hear? I realize that you must get discouraged at times, because you are not super but just human. Please know that you are being prayed for regularly. God bless you!
[In another e-mail from this same individual:] I have reviewed your site as well as several other sites for comparison. I don't understand what makes your site so confrontational or offensive. I don't even understand the debate of relational vs confrontational anyway. You might as well argue scrabbled vs boiled eggs. You have so many links, having one bad one really doesn't justify this response. Your letter also sounds angry and hurt, which is certainly understandable. I realize that I am only hearing one side of the story, and a brief summary at that, but it just doesn't make any sense! (I really like logic. Unfortunately, there are many things that are just too gray to be logical.)
I do believe that you are providing a very needed ministry in Utah. It saddens and concerns me that you are by yourself. You should have at least a couple other people to share the burden. I believe that working as a team helps to keep us on the right path and keep our priorities focused. I find it very disturbing that those that do decide to evangelize in Utah are not considered missionaries in the same respect as foreign missions. After all, you are doing the same thing.
...I know that God is in control of your life and your ministry. I hope that this break does not result in bad relations between you and Russ' ministry. It seems that you have been long time friends. Please continue to pray and put God first in your decisions. Did you know that Loren Cunningham was rejected by his church when he approached them about a new idea for a short-term missionary organization? As a result, he started YWAM as an inter-denominational missionary outreach. Look how it has grown in the last 45 years! This would never have happened if he stayed under the Assembly of God organization. God has put this burden on your heart for a reason, and he already knows how you will be this missionary. ...In any case, of course I will continue to lift you up in prayer!
I take great delight in knowing you will never preach your perverted "Confrontational Love" inside a Latter-day Saint building. You are indeed a filthy "ABOMINATION!" Nevertheless, you are a weak and ineffective "ABOMINATION" at best. Why can't you stop the spreading of Mormonism? Obviously your idiot god is a LOSER and so are you! Well, that's what you get for preaching your Dog Vomit theology and telling lies!
[This angry LDS doesn't realize that I have in fact confronted LDS in their own buildings.]
Very cool stuff, Rob. :) You have done some amazing work, and I commend you.
That audio and video is probably some of the best web site material for Christians on your site man (it would be good for LDS folks too!). I was so taken in ... so blessed by it all. I loved it man. I'm going to get my wife and my friend to listen to it. [He]... mentioned thinking about coming to live in Utah with me. A small thought it passing it was, but pray for that to happen. I love you man. I hope some day, God willing, I can be there preaching in front of high schools, taking after my heroes in the faith. Keep up the ministry. It's good to be busy at work in the kingdom of God. Love you bro.
[Referring to John Morehead's article (http://www.cornerstonemag.com/pages/show_page.asp?704) in which he talked about "one gentleman set himself apart":] Now unless I am mistaken, this description seems very much like Rob. If Morehead is referring to you, well then, God bless you for daring to speak the truth, like always! Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth? - Galatians 4:16
I miss you and your ministry! I'm so sorry about these times you're having, you know God is working through you and all this. You have been SUCH an encouragement to me, as well as the rest of our youth group. Through seeing your ministry and your... let's just call them "ministry tactics," I have developed a fire inside my heart for the LDS people and an even greater fire for our Lord. I actually want to live in Utah, at some point, haha. Thank you so much, don't let the devil get you down, you know it's just him. He's nothing compared to God. You know all this, but sometimes it's nice to hear, especially from some highschool girl in California. I hope and know things will get better, I love you! In Christ and God Bless,
You might not remember us but we are so proud of everything you are doing and encourage you to keep up at what you're doing, no matter what the obstacles. I know when we were up in UT with you, our ministry really attempted to conquer Satan as he was trying to infiltrate our trip, and it looks like he is at it again. The Lord will conquer these obstacles and break his way into the hearts of mormons through you. Thanks again for all you do, you opened doors for us and allowed us to view and be broken for these lost people. You are always in our prayers. Much Love in HIM,
Rob you know as well as i do that what you are doing is working. you are reaching people for Christ and the Devil HATES you for it. this is so obviously a spiritual attack and we will not be crushed by it. your are an amazing testimony of God's love for us. thank you for daily picking up your cross and pushing onward to the goal..."well done Rob, my good and faithful servant!" you are forever in our prayers.
