Prayer Request

Dear FPW's (Faithful Prayer Warriors),
I hardly ever pass on prayer requests from other ministries. BUT THIS IS UNBELIEVABLY IMPORTANT!!! I cannot imagine how this will affect our battle against the LDS cult if it is allowed to continue unhindered. Please read and please pray.

I just received this letter from one of our FPW's. Her church supports some missionaries in Canada and they are fighting a battle of huge importance with the Canadian public school system as it relates to the LDS church.

Dear Supporters,
Thank you for praying. God is sovereign, powerful, merciful, and gracious. "Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
Praise Item:
The Superintendent and School Board of the Westwind School District has given approval for us to promote/present a religious course in three of the four high schools in the Westwind School District.
Prayer Items:
1) The Superintendent is arranging a meeting for us (Henry and me) with him and the principals of three high schools this week.
2) We want permission to promote/present the course in the Stirling High School as well as in the Cardston, Magrath, and Raymond High Schools.
3) We want the privilege of using the Distance Learning room in these high schools.
4) This is the course outline that we want printed in all High School Calendars next semester:
Religious Studies 25 -- The Life of Christ from an evangelical perspective. This course covers: the prophecies of Christ, His birth, His preparation for ministry, His main teachings, His death and resurrection, and His preset work.
5) We want permission to put notices about this new course on all high school bulletin boards several weeks before next semester
6) We want Prairie Bible Institute to finish preparing Religious Studies 15 and Religious Studies 35 and get them approved by the Alberta Department of Education so that we can have an approved course available for three years of study--a total of fifteen hours of credit.
7) We pray that students will be able to see the difference between the course that we are promoting/presenting and those that the LDS church promotes/presents. The LDS have sixteen courses offered to grades 9-12 students: Religious Studies--Old Testament 9/15/25/35; Religious Studies--New Testament 9/15/25/35; Religious Studies--Book of Mormon 9/15/25/35; Religious Studies--Doctrine and Covenants 9/15/25/35. Each course offered on a four-year rotation The senior high courses are 5 credits for each course completed to a maximum of 15 credits. The LDS courses are promoted/presented as: "patterning lives after Jesus Christ"; "learning the principles to become faithful Christians"; developing the positive attitudes needed to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ"; "gaining an understanding of importance and value of being literal children of God"; "recognizing one's potential as a child of God and determining to reach it"; "committing to live a Christ-like life". In other words, the LDS courses outlined in the Westwind District High School Calendars seem to be Christian and appear to be biblical.
Item of interest:
I had a meeting with the Assistant Superintendent of the Westwind School District last week. He gave me a print-out which states "that the content of the LDS courses are different than anything Alberta Learning is currently offering. That they are locally developed religious courses to satisfy the needs of communities with predominantly LDS populations in Southern Alberta." However, he added "that LDS courses are being so well received by the Educational Leaders of Alberta that they are being requested to be taught in school districts in Alberta that are not predominately LDS populations." "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides its own classroom facilities, teaching equipment, student materials, as well as credited trained teachers. There is no cost to the public schools or school districts offering LDS courses. In addition, any funds granted to any school division by the Alberta government because of student credits earned are allowed to be kept and used by the school division." LDS-taught courses are an immediate financial "windfall" for any cash-strapped school division.

FPW's -- As you can see, this issue has huge ramifications. If the LDS cult is allowed to spread it's doctrine to all the public schools in Canada, Christianity had better step up and do the same. This could be a disaster of unbelievable proportions if we do not take it seriously. I think this is worth passing on.

In Christ's Service,
Pastor Chip
