Jana Riess: Renaming BYU buildings after nonracists, and other ways to dismantle white supremacy in Mormonism (6-20-20)
This Juneteenth, some Brigham Young University students are petitioning the school to rename one of its buildings after someone other than a 19th-century slaveholder, and hundreds of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have signed a petition offering "a heartfelt apology for the role that we have played in promoting racist ideologies and behaviors which have injured and burdened our brothers and sisters of African descent."
